In 1998 my younger sister Ashley disappeared. Law enforcement wouldn't file a report. No news stories. No vigils. We were completely alone.

Around that same time my grandfather — an Episcopal minister — was dying. In his final moments he prayed over me: "God answers prayers. Everyone has a purpose, including you." Standing there while he prayed, I remember thinking his God wouldn't hear my prayers. I didn't believe God existed. I wasn't someone who prayed. I wasn't someone who believed. My grandfather passed the next day.

I didn't feel purposeful. I felt desperate.

I remember yelling in my car — at God, at my grandfather, at anyone who might be listening — Does anyone hear me? Does Ashley matter? Is anyone there? 

Seconds later a large truck crossed the intersection. ASHLEY in tall bold letters on the side. A furniture store delivery truck. Completely ordinary. And yet — the timing stopped me cold.

Later — drugstore parking lot, still crying, still asking. I walked inside. Music was playing. "I need a sign to let me know you're here." Calling All Angels. Playing at exactly that moment.

I wasn't spiritual. I had no idea what I was doing. I was just desperate enough to keep asking — and slowly, reluctantly, I started paying attention. What came back changed everything.

Over the next twenty years that same guidance led me through things I could never have orchestrated alone. The deeper I went looking for Ashley, the more I realized she wasn't alone. There was an entire invisible population no one was talking about — people lost on the streets, never reported, never searched for. I couldn't unsee it. I felt called to do something about it. One nudge at a time — signs, downloads, guidance I was still learning to trust — doors opened that I never could have knocked on alone. A nonprofit built from nothing. National media. A Lifetime movie that aired in over 20 countries for more than a decade. For a long time I kept the spiritual source of all of it private. It wasn't the kind of thing you led with in law enforcement meetings or news interviews. Then the guidance came again — step back from advocacy, and start teaching what I'd been quietly living all along.

This guidance doesn't wait for a crisis. It's there when everything is falling apart — and when you simply want to sell a house, find a new direction, or finally move toward something you can't quite name yet. It can be recognized, discerned, and acted on — by anyone willing to learn how.  That's what I spent twenty years proving.  And it's what I'm here to share.
